Andrea,
There is probably nothing new for you in the first five books that I pulled
off my bookshelf but they are favorites of mine so will send along the
citations anyway. You can determine how connected they are to adult
education but I have found them to be of essential to my work as an adult
educator.
Unearthing Seeds of Fire: The Idea of Highlander by Frank Adams, available
from Highlander Center website or from John F. Blair, publisher, 1406 Plaza
Drive, Winston-Salem, North Carolina 27103
The Night is Dark and I am Far From Home, A Political Indictment of the U.S.
Public Schools by Jonathan Kozol, This was published by Continuum Press in
1975 but is now out of print. Try Amazon.com.
The Politics of Workplace Literacy by Sheryl Greenwood Gowen, Teachers
College Press, 1992
Take the Rich Off Welfare by Mark Zepezauer, South End Press, 2004
Who Will Tell The People by William Greider, Simon and Schuster, 1992
Thanks for asking.

Colleagues,
A request: citations or journals that anyone on this list thinking are
ESSENTIAL for an understanding of adult education. This is for a work
on adult literacy.
I'd appreciate having anything from the field--which is what the
people on this list serv are--the field.
Thanks for your help.
Andrea
