Colleagues--
About 2 years ago I inserted climate change into a discussion. I think it
is a variable to consider in our professional lives and our personal lives.
The short version follows:
1) The Gulf Stream is slowing down amd making a sharper turn to
N.America in the N. Atlantic rather than going further north before
turning.
2) This is possibility what is causing the extra cold and snowy winter in
Europe.
3) This is possibly also what is causing the warm/wet winter on the east
coast, and the stronger hurricane season in the Gulf.
4) If you want to know more, tap Gulf Stream 30%; Ocean conveyor
belt; younger dryas, and any other terms which pop out at you from the
articles you read, into Google. (These terms are just the ah...tip of the iceberg.)
5) It is possible to go from global warming to global cooling (that
iceberg again) within 10 years.
This is our future, folks, and the future of adult students. This could
take advocacy to a new level.
Yours in critical literacy--
Andrea
