Happy New Year to you, too, Andrea. And you're right - the cookbooks don't *always* have the *right* ingredients either. Maybe those non-readers who go by a lick and a promise have a better thing goin' for them than we give them credit for, ya think? They sure do know how to cook a delicious feast.

A cooking friend tried out a new recipe in my kitchen recently, a recipe that called for 2 cups of sumac, a middle eastern flavoring. The result was almost inedible.
Happy holidays to you, too, with hopes that next year will be less ....I can't think of the right word, here. Maybe I should just hope that "things will get better."
