[AAACE-NLA] Advocacy in coal country

Colleagues--

I read the Washington Post every morning online.

Today there is an article about high tech going into Virginia coal country.   
It seems to me, following the information in the article, that formerly "dead 
end" parts of the country can be transformed   by a switch to high tech.   I 
don't know about literacy advocacy in Virginia, but I do notice that the VA 
governor was behind this transformative push.   So....it seems to me that adult 
literacy can have a large role in government plans, when there is active 
collaboration.

It also seems to me that as a group we can identify "hot spots" ahead of 
time, where adult literacy services are needed, and then move to create 
collaborative relationships with state governments.
