Nothing like replying to my own email.  "Self-help" is the American way, look at aisles of how-to books, and self-help books in book stores. There's kind of an assumption that one can learn anything from a book. 

"Adult Literacy--Self-Help the American Way"?

I think also of those adults mentioned in news stories on the 4th who became citizens at the Washinton Mall--for us this is normal, for some other countries it would be bizarre.  For us it is the fabric of who we are.  (Yes, our immigration policy is chaotic.  After what happened today in London I bet there will be changes of some sort. Brave new world.)
