I must put my 2 cents in here.  

Adult literacy as a feld is awfully fragmented, any one would agree.  Yet, this winter when  the SOS went out, I learned about "points of contact" through Art, and have been following mention of letters sent, meetings, (civil) arm twisting, everything that goes into advocacy and lobbying. 

I have been hanging out here for, say, 5 years or so, and I am impressed with what has happened in advocacy over that time.
