The full Senate and the House Education and the Workforce Committee have
given bipartisan approval to two separate bills that would reauthorize the
Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act, effectively ignoring
President Bush's request that the program be eliminated in lieu of a high
school reform initiative.
