[AAACE-NLA] 33 States Missing in the Save Literacy Campaign?

Art, and others,

Thanks. That's good news.  It would be great if someone from each of 
those states could share what is happening there, and if other states 
where there is activity could also let us all know.

There are several reasons why this is important.

1. People in states which are active want to know that they are not 
alone, that there is action in other states, and that the voices of 
adult literacy advocates are reaching Republicans and Democrats.
2. We can benefit from hearing what strategies are being used in other 
states, and particularly which ones are effective.  I think the 
postings here from Kentucky, Delaware and Pennsylvania have been 
particularly helpful.  Materials from these states, and Massachusetts, 
have been used by other states. ( They will be found on the Adult

3. We all need to know what elected officials and their aides are 
saying back to the field.  Are we "ratcheting up" the commitment of 
supporters?  If so, which ones? Have we convinced any legislators of 
the importance of federal adult education funding who were uniformed or 
on the fence?  Have we turned around any opponents?  If we have, we all 
need to know.

So, thanks to those states who have reported -- and continue to report 
-- what's happening.  And we look forward to hearing from the other 29 
states.
