That is a really insightful comment, and I'll tell you why I say that.

I always have 2 graduate students living in my house, and  their reaction to, say, a light bulb that has gone out is to say:  "The light is broken."  Of course it isn't broken!  It needs a new bulb!  The adult student isn't broken, either, just needs some skilled help with learning how  to read and write.  i have never understood why I get so irritated with them for saying that, until now.
