David and others,
The Greater Hartford Literacy Council's address is now "One Union
Place." All other information is correct.
This paragraph below, shown once you click on the Literacy USA section,
should also be changed from NAULC to Literacy USA, The National Alliance
of Literacy Coalitions.
The coalitions listed below are all members of the National Alliance of
Urban Literacy Coalitions (NAULC). NAULC represents over 60 state, urban
and rural coalitions, representing 3,600 literacy service providers
serving 2. 5 million learners. The information below was updated by
NAULC in January, 2004. For NAULC contact information, please see the
end of this list.
Thank you for compiling this important document.

Subject: [AAACE-NLA] The 23 State Mystery
NLA Colleagues,
I have just updated the list of state, regional and urban adult
literacy coalitions which do advocacy as part of their work. 29 states
are listed as having state coalitions.
Is your state listed? Is the information accurate. (Have you checked?)
What's happening in the 23 states without adult literacy advocacy
coalitions? Are all adults who seek adult literacy education being
well served with sufficient resources? Or is the state in such sorry
circumstances that advocates haven't even formed a coalition? Or are
the efforts in that state so furtive and stealthy that the coalition
doesn't want to be listed?
Help solve the 23 state mystery. You'll find the list at:

All the best,
