Art,

In our local high school system I recently heard of two students, severe LD, 
who have been financed to go   to special schools.   Teachers kept insisting 
that they learn, that they could learn, the way they were being taught.   
Finally the parents brought in a psychiatrist who documented that the school was 
causing the students emotional harm akin to PTSD by   its insistence and its use 
of teaching methods   that didn't help the students learn.   $40,000/yr each 
at the special schools, quite good   ones, too.   

The fault is with the sped department and their sped teachers, not properly 
trained.
