If the parents are poor, their children may not have necessary access to 
medical care, nutrition, vision, hearing,and dental care.   All these correlate 
with school success.   Literacy is a gateway to a higher economic level.   Where 
possible, adult literacy programs should incorporate links to these resources 
for the parents so they can help their children.
