I'm really interested in what you have to say about Freire, particularly the following:

"....Freirian pedagogy has made an enormous contribution to  the field in opening up perspectives that the modernization thesis about literacy could not have easily illuminated."

1)  What perspectives did Freire open up?
2)  What is the modernization thesis about literacy?
3)  In your view, what is modernization?
