Colleagues:
In a recent conversation with Marty Finsterbusch, Executive Director of VALUE, he asked that we consider a broader audience. Here is an opportunity for adult learner leaders to also raise important questions with Presidential candidates.

Please forward or print the message below, and share it with adult learner leaders who:

- are involved in adult learner alumni councils;
- have initiated, lead, or are members of state/regional adult learner organizations; or
- who have, in other ways, become leaders in our field.

Please do not delay! Our AAACE-NLA colleague David Rosen asked that we compile a list of questions in two weeks. We now have approximately 11 days left (that puts us at finishing a list of questions by Monday, May 10th). Where are adult learner leaders' voices in this initiative? Let's list their questions alongside ours.

Best,

Jackie

AACE-NLA Colleagues,

The election of the next President of the United States is important to
adult literacy education. It is a time to get critical questions from
the field to the campaigns, to ask the candidates these questions at
every opportunity, and -- we hope -- to get increasing commitment to
support adult literacy education.

The organizers of SAVE NIFL would like to launch another effort,
called Literacy President. Its goal is to increase Presidential
commitment regardless of which candidate is elected. We are launching
the effort today, and its initial activities include:

1) Over the next two weeks we would like you to post your questions for
the Presidential candidates to AAACE-NLA list.

2) In Mid-May We will take your questions and create an online survey
where you and other adult literacy practitioners and adult learners
across the country can vote on them.

3) We will take the top 5-10 questions and get them to the Presidential
campaigns in May or June.

There will be other activities, but we'll begin with these.

Please post your questions now. You can send as many as you like, but
please try to make them as clear as you can, write in plain English,
and keep them short if you can.

Let the questions begin!
