thanks for sending this.  I'd seen some of it on the Rethinking Schools list.

A couple of things come to mind

1)[denial]  and  the immediate nagging sense that all the links to 
existing ERIC documents (which I've already changed all over my 
website), will once again go missing

and

2) [shock and awe]  the Bigger more horrible realization that not 
only is the new ERIC something between say, intellectual hostage 
taking and  McCarthy era shenanigans, but also wondering on a very 
practical level how to shelter and save existing resources.  Maybe I 
read the message too quickly, but do any of us know what will happen 
to the resources scattered across the internet into new (foster?) 
homes when  the multiple clearinghouses were disbanded?

I know that NCLE, for example, still exists outside the ERIC system, 
but what about other resources?

And, as far as generating, archiving and disseminating new resources, 
I'd agree with the boycott.  Anywhere but there.
