1) For those of you in the Boston / eastern MA area....

Mev Miller & Lorna Rivera from WE LEARN will be guests on WRBB radio 
(104.9 fm) on Sunday morning Feb. 29 from 11:00 - noon. We will be 
guests of Ernest Best (director of the MassAAL - the adult learner 
organization in Massachusetts) on his black news radio program.
The show will focus on the work of WE LEARN, women and literacy and our 
upcoming conference. ....

conference in March 27 from 9:00 - 4:30 at the University of 
Massachusetts - Harbor Campus - Boston, MA.

Afternoon    workshops -- 2 hours long -- 1:45 – 3:45
Using Participatory Methods    to Facilitate Student Writing: A 
Workshop for teachers and tutors **
Dr. Elsa Auerbach
Participants will explore several tools for engaging students in 
writing as    a way of eliciting important themes/concerns in their 
lives. The workshop will    include hands-on activities with these 
tools as well as discussion about their    usefulness for various 
teaching contexts. Participants are encouraged to bring    examples of 
the types of writing activities they do with their classes. A call    
for articles for the special women and literacy issue of The Change 
Agent will be provided along with prompt questions for consideration.

(Net)Working – Using    WE LEARN and the website as community & 
curriculum: A workshop for students    and teachers
Mev Miller ,Founder of WE LEARN
This workshop will be in the computer lab and we will explore the WE 
LEARN website.    Participants will learn about what is on the website. 
We will discuss how students    and teachers can use the resources of 
WE LEARN for learning and teaching. We    will imagine what more WE 
LEARN can offer. Through hands-on (net)working, participants    will be 
asked for creative ideas about making WE LEARN better.
