If you haven't yet done so yet:

1. Write, fax or call your Senators and Congressional Representative to
urge them to support the Senate version of the Workforce Investment
Act, S.1627, the "Workforce Investment Act Amendments of 2003" and in
particular to preserve the National Institute for Literacy's focus on
adult and family literacy. If you go to http://www.savenifl.org you
will find some good talking points. For Congressional phone numbers,
fax numbers and addresses, just click on the following link, enter your
zip code in the box, and click Go! The search engine will give you the
phone numbers of your elected representatives.

2. Ask your Senator and Representative to share your views about NIFL
with:

*	Mike Enzi, Chair of the Senate Subcommittee on Subcommittee on
Employment, Safety and Training
*	Howard P."Buck" McKeon, Chair of the House Subcommittee on 21st
Century Competitiveness

3. Make the most impact with your communications to Congress. Copy the
NIFL Advisory Board members and the Interagency Management Group
members on your written communications with Congresspersons. Inform
your Congresspersons that you are copying the NIFL Board members and
the Interagency Management Group members somewhere in your message, and
then do so. These two influential groups of leaders in our field also
make decisions that affect the future of NIFL. By keeping them informed
of what you value about NIFL while you communicate with your
Congresspersons, your perspective on what is important about an adult
literacy-focused NIFL will go much further!
(Details on how to do this will be found at
http://savenifl.org/action.html )

4. Email us at SAVENIFL at yahoo.com after you take this action. Tell us:

a.	Your name
b.	Who you contacted
c.	If the legislator or staff person had any comments
d.	What his/her comments or questions were
e.	If we have permission to add your name to the Advocacy Hall of
Honor. If so, your name will be listed alongside all others who have
contacted their Congresspersons in support of NIFL.

5. Have your efforts recognized in the Advocacy Hall of Honor at
http://savenifl.org/honor.html

Thanks for your help.
