The Chronicle of Higher Education's online edition yesterday featured a Q&A
with the democratic candidates on their positions on higher education. Dean
and Lieberman were the only ones who addressed the need for basic skills
among adults, albeit in the context of adequate preparation for college.

I am an Iowa resident and am committed to the education of all children and
adults. It has taken time for me to sort through all the Democratic
candidates' policy statements (and hype). John Kerry has taken a strong
stand on education for children in special education and for the employment
of adults with disabilities. I believe he would listen to our concerns
about the education needs of adults with special learning needs. Visit his
website to see his policy statements: www.JohnKerry,com
