Colleagues,

We should be going for the Senate version.

I am adding my tiny perspective to all those others who are advocating through their own particular lenses, mostly larger than mine.

Going by George's comparisons, both versions, House and Senate, are full of code words.Example: "Scientifically-based" v. "effective," and "reading instruction programs," which means textbooks.

I have to believe that those who wrote the 2 versions know what they are doing by the use of code words.

When we do our advocacy writing we should be as specific as possible about what we want to preserve, not just "adult literacy" but EFF, LINCS, Bridges to Practice, the specifics of NIFL. We should also say in our advocacy letters that we want funding to continue at current levels, or increase by x%. (Someone else please fill in the correct language here.)

Andrea
