It's because we see no point in having this dialogue on this list.  I've
heard from some others offline who feel very differently than you and some
of the others.  We just don't think this is the appropriate venue to express
our personal political beliefs.

As I hope is clear I take no issue with the substance of what you say in
these two messages.  In many respects your critique parallels my own,
though there are differences of nuances.

My purpose was simply to lay out something of what I view as the
substance of the pro-war position at least as articulated by certain
pro-war intellectuals if not the administration.  There are many problems
with this perspective and I find the administration's argument incoherent
on its face.

If I am off-base in portraying something of the prowar position or if you
are off-base in your critique, it's up to someone who supports the
administration or the pro-war intellectual stance to set the record
straight.

It's more than a little interesting (curious, in fact) that we haven't
heard one pro-war argument on this list.  I wonder why that's the case?
