Tom and others:
I was looking through the NIFL archives for an earlier response to the
ERIC issue. One that someone wrote was particularly good in showing
what would be gained and lost (the good and bad news) by the proposed
changes

None of that matters now as it appears that all references to the ERIC
matter as well as all references to US foreign policy have been removed
from the NIFL lists, and as part of the disappearing act, the NLA
archives have been removed from the NIFL discussion board.

While there are certain efficiencies in the proposed new ERIC revision as
you state, there's a lot more going on too, which in my view has to do
with a not so subtle effort to eradicate any and all vestiges of
educational theory and research which does not comport the
administration's views. I',I'm wondering if the scientists would like to
weigh in here and comment on the back room politics of literacy antics
going on right now in Washington, DC

Anyone want to deal with this? Anyone dare to post a critical message on
any of the NIFL lists? Anyone concerned? Anyone want to do something
about it? Soon!!

Oh, one final thought.

President Bush believes he is called by God at this time in the nation's
history to renew the American spirit and will. Perhaps it's God's will
that these topics should be erased from the NIFL lists and ERIC
transformed. Just a thought.
