HR1261 (the bill currently going through the House of Representatives) does
not contain the language, "support of State or regional literacy resource
centers" in its list of State leadersip activities in Section 223. This
language does appear in current law. There is, however, an activity (11) in
HR1261 that reads, "Other activities of Statewide signficance, including
assisting eligible agencies in achieving progress in improving the skills
levels of adults who participate in programs under this title." We are
attempting to determine whether suppport of resource centers could continue
under this provision. Garrett Murphy

Subject: [AAACE-NLA]HR 1261 and State Resource Centers
Hi All:
I recently heard rumor that state literacy resource centers were eliminated
as allowable activities under HR1261. Has anyone heard or seen anything
about this?
Thanks.
