Welcome to the TAACE electronic policy advocacy discussion list for Tennessee. The TAACE discussion list is sponsored by the Tennessee Association for Adult and Community Education and is an open discussion list for people working or interested in adult education in Tennessee. All messages related to adult and community education public policy advocacy are welcome.

This list has two primary purposes:
1) To build a statewide advocacy network of adult and community education practitioners and other professionals that will mobilize in times of need for adult and community education in Tennessee.

2) To build the capacity of the field in influencing state and federal legislation and other policy initiatives.

TAACE Discussion List Guidelines
1) Postings should be related to policy advocacy for AE, ESOL, Family Literacy and other local, state, and federal programs which assist undereducated and/or disadvantaged adults to function effectively in society.

2) List participants are encouraged to conduct their communications on the list in a spirit of inquiry, curiosity, and mutual respect.

This list features information and discussion, like:

• Communicating state and national policy advocacy messages and legislative calls to action
• Sharing and discussing local, regional, and state advocacy strategies and advocacy issues
• Receiving advocacy-related basic information
• Sharing local, state and national advocacy updates
• Requesting and summarizing information and reporting it back to the list
• Sharing pertinent newspaper and magazine articles (providing the web address)
• Asking advice, offering analysis, and stirring action
• Sharing local experiences and inquiring if others have experienced it the same way or differently
• Participating in civic opportunities as they are related to or otherwise support Tennessee adult and community education advocacy
